Herdade da Maroteira is an agricultural estate owned by one of the Anglo‑Portuguese families that have been settled in the Alentejo region of Portugal for more than five generations. Spanning 540 hectares at the foot of Serra d’Ossa, 20 km south of Estremoz and 35 km north of Évora, the estate is devoted to preserving the sobro and azinho woodlands within a sustainable agro‑silvo‑pastoral model. From the same producer who created the celebrated wine “Cem Reis”, Herdade da Maroteira launches this new wine, “Mil Reis”. It is a 100 % Syrah monovarietal that displays a deep violet hue and an exuberant nose of warm black fruits with a minty twist, finished by toasted oak from the barrels. On the palate it is round and warm, with a firm structure and a satisfying persistence. (Illustrative image only)
