Depending on its age, wines may show signs of time, such as dust on the bottles and/or label damage—common in vintages that have spent decades in storage. The National Cellar stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it keeps the visual character that comes with age. We usually choose brands and regions that perform well in old‑wine tastings. Wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Consequently, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given its aged nature. We recommend opening the bottle and letting it breathe first; this helps release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years sealed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines.
