This Herdade do Freixo Riesling is certainly a memorable – and slightly bewildering – experience. Expect pronounced blackcurrant notes, alongside a bracingly fresh acidity that’s quite a kick, ideally paired with a hearty batch of grilled greens. The Decanter World Awards Silver medal hints that perhaps the blend of Rúbiesso (adding a vibrant red fruit character) was a calculated gamble that paid off. Definitely a wine for those who enjoy a bit of a flavourful challenge, particularly with seafood.
