Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long-term vision built on the quality of the wines it markets, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its wines. Led today by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfils the objective it has upheld since its founding: to be a family-owned company with an international vocation, focused on producing quality wines, on innovation, and on developing Portuguese brands of global standing. Sogrape Vinhos owns approximately 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Since 1942, Sogrape Vinhos has been investing in Portugal's main wine regions and, as might be expected, the Alentejo region has long inspired the desire to create a project capable of offering consumers the quality of Alentejo wines. Thus, in 1998, the acquisition of the Herdade do Peso estate was completed, which quickly established itself in the national market for its ability to offer different levels of complexity and styles of wine.
