Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition of introducing the world to Portuguese wines and a long‑term vision grounded in the quality of the wines sold, the novelty of the brands, and the presentation of its products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal set at its inception: to be a family‑owned, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, fostering innovation, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. Sogrape Vinhos owns around 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Since 1942, the company has invested in the country’s key wine regions, and naturally the Alentejo region sparked a desire to implement a project that could deliver the quality of Alentejo wines to consumers. Consequently, in 1998 the acquisition of Herdade do Peso was completed, quickly establishing itself in the national market for its ability to offer a range of complexity and styles.
