Depending on its age, wines may show signs of time, such as dust traces on the bottles and/or label damage—common in wines that have spent decades in storage. The National Cellar commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We usually select brands/regions that perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism, exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, helping release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines.
