According to its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust traces on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always opts to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We usually select brands/regions that typically perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like all others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle air out first, which will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as this can be too aggressive for old wines.
