Description

For the production of the white wine Tiro no Escuro, grapes were sourced from vineyards planted on clay and schist‑calcite soils, with Viognier predominating. It has a golden‑yellow color and offers medium‑intensity aromas of citrus fruit that evolve into cooked fruit and compote thanks to its two‑year maturation in barrels. On the palate it displays a touch of acidity, well‑integrated oak that provides structure, notes of dried fruit, and a long finish, indicating strong bottle‑aging potential. Herdade Papa Leite, located in Alter do Chão in the heart of Alto Alentejo, dates back to the 17th century and still bears marks from that era. After many families passed through the area, Filipe Barreiros Cardoso, who fell in love with the property, acquired it and, with the support of his family and team, fulfilled an old dream of producing high‑quality products. The estate was thus expanded and revitalized, now covering 320 hectares devoted to wine, olive oil, and cattle. The vineyards are planted on clay soils, and the grapes are harvested at night and selected before entering the cellar, where the wine is produced with the finest raw material.
