Description

For the production of the white wine *Tiro no Escuro*, grapes were sourced from vineyards planted on clay and slate‑calcareous soils, with a predominance of the Viognier variety. The wine displays a golden‑yellow hue and offers medium‑intensity aromas of citrus fruits that evolve into cooked fruit and compote notes, thanks to its two‑year maturation in oak barrels. On the palate it shows a touch of acidity, a well‑integrated oak that lends structure, notes of dried fruit, and a long finish, indicating good bottle‑aging potential. Herdade Papa Leite, located in Alter do Chão in the heart of Alto Alentejo, dates back to the 17th century and still bears monuments from that era. After passing through many families, it was acquired by Filipe Barreiros Cardoso, who, passionate about the property, turned an old dream of producing high‑quality products into reality with the support of his family and team. Consequently the estate was expanded and revitalised, encompassing 320 hectares devoted to wine, olive oil, and cattle. The vines are planted on clay soils and the grapes are harvested at night and selected before entering the cellar, ensuring that the wine is produced from the best raw material available.
