Horácio Simões O Moscatel Roxo “Excellent” is a generous dessert wine produced in the Setúbal Demarcated Region (since 1907). The Horácio Simões Agricultural House had the vision to revive this grape, which was practically extinct in the area, giving rise to this true nectar; under the hand of winemaker Luís Camacho Simões. This wine is the result of more than 100 years of dedicated work between the vineyard and the winery. The vineyards, with yields controlled that do not exceed 2,500 litres per hectare, were carefully monitored over decades. In the winery, a proprietary vinification was developed, distinct from the traditional method. The prolonged ageing is carried out in various wooden barrels, where the wine concentrates and evolves over decades. The “Excellent” is born from a very special batch of selected barrels, resulting in a rare, deep and impressive wine.
