The young entrepreneur Manuel María González began his wine career as a merchant, partnering with Juan Bautista Dubosc and Francisco Gutiérrez de Agüera. With the success of his company, he quickly became involved in production under the guidance of his maternal uncle, José Ángel. In his honor, he christened the founding solera “Solera del Tío Pepe.” Thus began the legend of the world’s most famous Sherry, which in 1854, just twenty years after its founding, became one of the best‑known references and the first exporter of Sherry wine from Spain. Today, with cellars located in different regions around the globe, the fifth generation maintains the family‑owned business and exports its products to more than 100 countries. (Illustrative image)
