This João Tavares de Pina Mencia from the Dão demonstrates that Mencia can be surprisingly elegant. The producer, carrying on a family tradition, has crafted a wine with vibrant acidity and fresh red berry notes – a genuine expression of the grape. The characteristic minerality of the Dão, enhanced by granite soils, lends it a sophistication that’s quite remarkable. Wonderful with grilled fresh fish or sheep’s cheese.
