This "Kaputt" – aptly named, I suspect – is a seriously contemplative wine. Crafted from a vineyard that’s clearly seen a thing or two, it boasts a blend of white grapes with the incredibly rare Dona Branca adding a wonderfully distinctive note. A remarkable six years aging in used barrels, followed by two in tank and a further 19 months on the lees, have clearly done the trick. It’s a testament to patience, and frankly, it deserves to be treated with reverence – particularly alongside grilled fresh fish or a hearty beef dish with a red wine reduction.
