Kompassus Boutique Wine. The Kompassus wines are crafted in accordance with what the vineyard offers, rather than following market trends. They are produced in limited quantities to preserve the maximum potential of the vineyards and the quality of each particular vintage. With a small vineyard area, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand, most of them coming from vines older than 70 years. These wines occupy a mid‑high quality segment, reflected across all product lines. The vines are planted at a higher density between rows—about 6,000 vines per hectare—resulting in narrower rows, 1.70 m apart. This ancient practice, used in Kompassus vineyards for generations, is now on the brink of extinction. Oenology: Anselmo Mendes, a specialist in fresh Atlantic whites and a master from Alvarinhos, is a great admirer of genuine Bairrada wines. He works with Magda Costa, Kompassus resident oenologist, in the winemaking process.
