Kopke Porto

Description

Each wine tells a story. In the case of the Kopke Harvest, that story is unique. Tasting this wine is tasting history, recalling landmark moments such as the launch of YouTube, the world’s biggest video‑sharing site. **Vinification**: Grapes are hand‑picked at their optimum, destemmed, crushed, and vinified using a careful maceration that extracts colour, tannins, and aromas from the skins, complemented by periodic punch‑overs during fermentation. This takes place in tanks at a controlled 28–30 °C until the desired Baumé level is reached. At this stage, fortified spirit is added, producing a fortified wine of high quality from a single harvest. It ages in oak for variable periods—never less than seven years—before bottling according to market demand. **Serving suggestions**: Slightly chilled, it expresses finesse and sophistication when paired with caramel‑based desserts, dried fruits and spices—think caramel fondant with apple‑ginger jam, tarte tatin, crème brûlée, and medium‑intensity cheeses. Serve at 12–14 °C. Store in a cool, dry place out of light and temperature swings, with the bottle upright. As a natural product, Port Wine tends to develop sediment as it ages.
