Kopke Every wine tells a story. In the case of the Kopke Harvest, that story is unique. Tasting a wine is tasting history, and with this Harvest it is recalling significant moments such as the crowning of Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet as a triple world champion. Vinification: Grapes are hand‑picked at their optimal point, destemmed, crushed, and vinified through a meticulous maceration that extracts colour, tannins, and aromas from the skins, complemented by repeated punch‑throughs during fermentation. The process occurs in vats at a controlled temperature between 28–30 °C until the desired Baumé level is reached. At this stage, grape brandy (benefit) is added, creating a fortified wine of high quality from a single harvest. It ages in wood for variable periods, never less than seven years, and is then bottled to meet market demands. Slightly chilled, it expresses all its finesse and sophistication when paired with caramel‑based desserts, dried fruits, and spices, such as caramel fondant with apple‑ginger jam, tarte Tatin, crème brûlée, and medium‑intensity cheeses. Serve at 12–14 °C. The wine should be stored in a cool, dry place away from light and temperature fluctuations, with the bottle kept upright. As a natural product, the Port Wine is prone to develop sediment with age. Winemaker: Carlos Alves.
