According to its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always preserves the visual appearance appropriate to their age. We typically choose brands/regions that perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like all, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve. Therefore the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe first, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image)
