Description

Lusitanian fortified wine from the Azores, produced artisanal. It displays a clear appearance, a golden‑yellow hue, a special winey aroma, complex and reminiscent of toasted spices. Intense and persistent. On the palate it is warm and dry, revealing a noble evolution in American oak barrels. A touch of fine grape brandy during fermentation, a long three‑year aging in wood, and a rigorous selection of the finest vessels were the basis for this Quality Fortified Wine produced in the Pico region. The Pico Island Viticultural Cooperative was founded in 1949, when local growers joined to recover noble varieties and the stone‑paver vineyard culture, now classified as UNESCO World Heritage. Over the years more partners have joined, now numbering 250—including women, men, and families dedicated to their passion. With 70 years of history it remains the oldest wine producer in the Azores, still respecting and preserving viticultural traditions.
