Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, the house was carried on by Germana Freitas and later by Ermelinda Freitas, who always gave wine special attention. From the first generation this family has committed to the quality of its vineyards and wines, which were initially produced and sold in bulk without a label. It was with the current management that a major change took place—creating their own brands—and in 1997 a new cycle began with the first wine produced and bottled by Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
