Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas and later carried on by Germana Freitas and Ermelinda Freitas, the house has always given special attention to its wines. From the very first generation, this estate prioritized the quality of its vineyards and wines, which were originally produced and sold in bulk without a proprietary label. It was under the current management that a major shift took place—creating its own brands—and in 1997 a new chapter began with the first wine produced and bottled by Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
