Very few producers, especially in Madeira wine, experience a revolution as profound as that which happened with Barbeito. To be a bulk wine supplier and suddenly become a reference in the Madeira wine region is an achievement. It all happened in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita partners, decided to turn Barbeito into one of the most important Madeira wine producers.
