Very few producers—especially in Madeiran wines—experience a revolution as profound as the one that occurred with Barbeito. Becoming a bulk wine supplier and, overnight, a benchmark for the Madeiran wine region is a remarkable feat. All of this unfolded in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita, decided to transform Barbeito into one of the most important Madeiran wine producers.
