Description

This wine acquires its unique character through a stove treatment, followed by a three‑year stint in oak barrels before bottling. It is excellent as an aperitif. Bottled ready to drink, it remains in good condition for several months after opening. Very few producers—especially in Madeira—experience a revolution in their history as dramatic as the one that took place with Barbeito. Turning from a bulk wine supplier into a benchmark of the Madeiran wine region was a feat. All of this unfolded in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family firm and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita partners, decided to make Barbeito one of the most important Madeiran wine producers.
