Very few producers, especially in Madeira wine, experience a revolution in their history as significant as what happened with Barbeito. To go from a bulk wine supplier to a benchmark of the Madeira wine region is a remarkable feat. It all began in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with their Japanese partners Kinoshita, decided to transform Barbeito into one of the most important producers of Madeira wine.
