The Quinta das Maias is situated at an altitude of about 600 metres at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, with its vineyard cultivated organically. Its name derives from the yellow lichens that cover the mountain’s slopes, locally called “Maias” because they bloom in May. Owing to its location, the wines produced are noted for their freshness and mineral profile.
