The Quinta das Maias is situated at about 600 metres above sea level at the foot of Serra da Estrela and cultivates its vines using biodynamic (organic) farming. Its name comes from the yellow gorse bushes that cover the mountain slopes—called “Maias” here because they bloom in May.
