Manoella Branco

Description

This wine comes from a 57‑year‑old vineyard situated on a north‑facing slope with granitic soil, planted with Gouveio, Viosinho, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho at an altitude of 600 metres. It shows an intense, bright colour with aromas of spring flowers and fresh lime. It is round and has good mouth volume, with fine freshness, pure flavours and excellent balance. Jorge is the 5th generation of a long line of wine producers and cellar owners. Thus, in 2009, Sandra and Jorge acquired Quinta da Manoella, a property with a history dating back to 1838. The vineyards at Quinta da Manoella are over a century old, flanked on both sides by younger vines, producing wines of high freshness and delicacy, and with a concentration that quickly makes them recognised as some of the best wines of the Douro. Founded in 2001 by the duo of oenologists Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, the company Wine & Soul has invested in and purchased old vineyards and properties in the Rio Pinhão valley. The couple’s aim is to create wines that express all the character of the old vineyards and indigenous grape varieties of the Douro, seeking balance between concentration, complexity and elegance.
