“This Manuel Correia Grande Reserva certainly has a story to tell – that vanilla note hints strongly at extended barrel ageing. On the palate, it’s a rich, substantial wine with a remarkably smooth texture, almost reminiscent of a good pudding rather than a wine from high altitude. The finish is driven by incredibly fine tannins that practically dissolve on the tongue, leaving a lingering aroma that suggests it might be time for a replacement. A lovely pairing would be with a robust cigar and, perhaps, a good OPA cheese.”
