With a provocative blend of Touriga Nacional, Syrah and Petit Verdot, it spent 12 months maturing in French and American oak barrels. The wine shows a garnet‑red hue, with an intense aroma of ripe fruit and spices. Full‑bodied and well balanced, it offers robust tannins that hint at good bottle longevity. The Manz family moved to the quiet town of Cheleiros, in western Portugal, in 2004 and quickly fell in love with the people and the place. The region’s winemaking heritage—its rural landscape and long‑lost customs—soon captivated André Manz, who, with the help and advice of locals, decided to experiment with winemaking for personal consumption. After identifying the grape varieties that would be planted in a neglected vineyard tucked within an orchard, he discovered that one of the varieties was the almost extinct Portuguese grape Jampal. Very few producers currently bet on this variety due to its low profitability, but André Manz chose to follow only his own path. Today, his business expansion now reaches three wine regions—Douro, Lisbon and the Setúbal Peninsula—and 25 countries. (Illustrative image only)
