Depending on its age, wines may show signs of time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or some label damage – common in bottles that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it always chooses to preserve the visual characteristics inherent to their age. We usually select brands/regions that typically perform well in vintage‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle aerate beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image only)
