Fernando Remírez de Ganuza certainly has a discerning palate – these grapes from his La Coqueta vineyard on the Rioja’s southern slope seem to particularly delight him. His dedication to “the best” has produced a wine that, remarkably, shows no signs of ageing poorly. Guided by José Ramón Urtasun, Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza remains steadfast in its minimal intervention philosophy, trusting the inherent beauty and complexity of the Tempranillo and Graciano grapes, and the unique terroir. It’s a wine that’s sure to travel well, even from a somewhat eccentric cellar like Samaniego’s, and pairs wonderfully with a hearty roast.
