This Bairrada Arinto from Casa do Marquês certainly seems to have had a spirited youth. The winemaking – complete berry de-stemming and natural static lees contact – hints at a yearning for genuine expression, while the 50% of new French oak barrels introduce a touch of refined complexity. Stainless steel fermentation keeps things fresh, of course. After 12 months in oak and a minimum of 6 months bottle-aged, this wine has matured with considerable conviction – ideal with a delicate white fish or game.
