Aware of the enormous potential of Cantanhede’s land for producing superior‑quality wines, a group of 100 farmers founded the Adega Cooperativa de Cantanhede in 1954. Today, with about 700 active vineyard owners and an average annual grape yield of 6 to 7 million kilograms, the cooperative is the largest producer in the Demarcated Region of Bairrada, accounting for 30 % to 40 % of the region’s total output and certifying roughly 80 % of its production. It stands out as a leading seller of DOC Bairrada and IG Beira Atlântico wines. (illustrative image only)
