The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who managed it until 1973. Today, the management of Messias Cellars remains in the hands of Messias family descendants. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras, and Port Wine.
