The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who kept managing it until 1973. Today, the administration of the Messias Caves remains in the hands of the Messias family’s descendants. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from the principal demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Port.
