The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who maintained its administration until 1973. Today the management of Caves Messias is still ensured by the Messias family descendants. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from the principal demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Port wine.
