The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who remained at its helm until 1973. Today, the management of Caves Messias is still carried out by descendants of the Messias family. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from Portugal’s main demarcated regions: Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Porto.
