Right then, let’s have a go at this one. This M.I. DOC certainly seems to have taken its name a bit seriously – and perhaps with a touch of youthful exuberance. You get a wonderfully delicate balance of the Bairrada’s characteristic grapes, evoking the feeling of rain-slicked stone. It’s earned a nod from D. Fernando Pessoa himself, a prize that frankly, demands a proper accompaniment – say, some perfectly grilled sardines with papornelo.
