Let's just say the “Misterio Mendoza” Chardonnay certainly lives up to its name – a bit of a delightfully unexpected journey for the palate. Grown on the slopes of the Douro, this wine boasts a seriously vibrant acidity, a clear reflection of the terroir. A blend of Chardonnay and Taloados contributes a lovely burst of citrus and white stone fruit aromas, with a subtle hint of spice that speaks to the Douro’s gentle climate. And, of course, it snagged the “Troféu do Paladar” in 2022 – a small but perfectly formed testament to its freshness and balance. I’d pair it with some grilled seafood or perhaps a fragrant chicken dish for a truly harmonious experience.
