This Mob Gauvé, born from the ancient vines of Gouveia, is a tale of damp coolness and quietude – and the result is a remarkably vibrant wine. Situated in one of the Dão’s most moisture-rich spots, at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, it really amplifies the character of its centenary blend, as recognised by Grandes Escolhas. Gentle ageing in used French oak barrels has smoothed things out, but crucially, hasn't diminished that bracing acidity, a testament to both the grape ripeness and the region's time-honoured traditions. Expect a wine with staying power, perfect with game dishes or, frankly, a generous wedge of aged cheese.
