Monte Cascas Vinha da Carpanha, in the streets of Penalva do Castelo, in the heart of the Dão, everyone knows Mr. Francisco for two simple things: his temperament and his grapes. His temperament is rough and difficult to manage, but the grapes are sweet and treated as if they were family. After hearing this story, the enologists at Casca Wines wasted no time. They discovered this Vinha da Carpanha, in the center of Penalva—a true old vine, miraculously planted on a strip of clay soil. Everything is different, everything is good, everything is unique. With a simple handshake (and the promise of a few bottles), Mr. Francisco agreed to sell the treasure of his bunches, allowing us to handle the grapes with our usual care and pour their juice into six fine barrels. Two years later, this wine was born. Thank you! To Mr. Francisco, for never ceasing to cultivate a unique vine and for accepting to sell us such special grapes.
