Sociedade Agrícola da Sossega, owner of Monte do Pintor, was founded in 1991 with the primary goal of producing and marketing wines. In 1995 the company launched a regional Alentejo wine under the Monte do Pintor label. The vineyards are planted on gentle south-facing slopes, in soils defined by a distinct terroir. The red blends feature the traditional Alentejo grapes Trincadeira and Aragonez, along with Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Caiada, Alicante, and Moreto, while the white varieties include Verdelho, Arinto, and Antão Vaz.
