The Sociedade Agrícola da Sossega, owner of Monte do Pintor, was founded in 1991 with the primary aim of producing and marketing wines. In 1995 the commercialisation of an Alentejo regional wine under the Monte do Pintor label began. The vineyards are planted on gentle south-facing slopes, on soils characterised by a distinct terroir. The blend is dominated by the traditional Alentejo red varieties Trincadeira and Aragonez, as well as Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Caiada, Alicante, and Moreto, with the white grapes Verdelho, Arinto and Antão Vaz.
