This Mouch “Conheitas Antigas” has developed a truly impressive depth, a hallmark of Alentejo’s aging prowess. Initially, the colour recalls rich olive oil – a delightful surprise. The vibrant notes of mint and eucalyptus hint at a spirited character, underpinned by a wonderfully concentrated dark fruit compote. On the palate, it’s a beautifully structured wine with a characteristic Alentejo acidity that delivers a lovely “pop,” alongside incredibly smooth tannins and a finish that stubbornly refuses to fade. Seriously, this is a wine begging for a hearty beef roast – a pairing that’ll keep the conversation flowing as freely as the wine itself.
