Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a pivotal figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most influential people who has worked for and continues to champion Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, and has likewise crafted his own legacy alongside those who always create irreverent wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort collaborates on many other projects, spanning virtually all Portuguese wine regions and a few abroad.
