Quickly establishing a business in the Port wine market as a merchant, he built a venture that proved both prosperous and forward‑looking. In the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort emerged—a pivotal figure in the wine world, recognised as one of the most influential people who has worked for and continues to champion Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy with those who continually create bold, irreverent wines.
