Conciso is Niepoort’s take on a refined and elegant Dão, a wine that showcases the full potential and character of a very old, centuries‑old vineyard planted on granitic soil on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, where Baga and Jaen dominate. Its nose presents notes of cherry, violet and mint. On the palate it reveals depth with dried fruit and a salty undertone, blended with fruit, while a lively acidity keeps the wine fresh, leading to a long, yet smooth and elegant finish. In Portugal’s wine panorama, there is no more universally respected producer than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, the business quickly prospered and flourished. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an influential figure in the wine world and recognised as one of the most important personalities who has worked for and continues to champion Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also preparing his own legacy with those who are always creating irreverent wines.
