O Conciso is Niepoort’s take on a fine, elegant Dão, a wine that showcases the full potential and character of a very old centennial vineyard planted on granite soil on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, where Baga and Jaen varieties predominate. Its aroma offers notes of cherry, violet and mint. On the palate it reveals depth with dried fruit and a salty nuance, balanced by fruitiness, while a lively acidity keeps the wine fresh, leading to a long, but smooth and elegant finish. In Portugal’s wine landscape, there is no producer more esteemed than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in the country. Starting in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established a business that would prove prosperous and forward‑looking. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort emerged – an indispensable figure in the wine world, recognised as one of the most important personalities working for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also building his legacy alongside those who continually create irreverent wines.
