The Demijohns from Niepoort are 10‑year‑old Port wines, unique and distinct, crafted from exceptionally quality lots. With a tawny hue, they deliver striking aromas of orange and lemon zest, dried alperce and crystallised tangerine peel, all blended with gentle notes of caramel, honey and dried fruit, where walnuts shine. On the palate they are sweet and full‑bodied, revealing dried fruit with a spicy finish, excellent structure and a very long end. In the national wine scene, no producer is more consensual than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Upon entering the Port market as a trader, he swiftly established a business that would prove prosperous and enduring. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an indomitable wine producer recognised as one of the most influential figures working for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also preparing his legacy with those who continually create irreverent wines.
