Starting out in the port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up a business that proved prosperous and enduring. In the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, becoming an indispensable figure in the wine world, recognized as one of the most important personalities to have worked—and continues to work—for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy by consistently creating innovative wines.
