Starting out in the port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established a thriving business that would prove both prosperous and forward‑looking. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort emerged—a pivotal figure in the wine world, recognised as one of the most influential personalities working for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them refine their wines and understand their vineyards, while also crafting his own legacy alongside those who continually create irreverent wines.
